Sure, playing with gadgets is a fun free time hobby, but who’s to say it can’t be a fun work time hobby, too? Invention Girl needs plenty of privacy at InventHelp to test and tinker with new technology, so one of my favorite work inventions is the Cubicaller, a doorbell for your cubicle! You wouldn’t just go barging into someone’s home, so why do so many annoying coworkers find it completely acceptable to barge unannounced into your home away from home: your cube? Then again, knocking on the outside of a cube seems pretty silly. What’s an Invention Girl to do? Ding-Dong, Cubicaller calling!
The Cubicaller is affixed to the outside of your cube with nylon fasteners. When coworkers need to pop over for a visit, they can announce their arrival with one of the following sounds:
- Chirping birds
- Old car horn
- “Ding-Dong” doorbell
- Fading laser
- Knocking on door
- Fog horn
- Big band
- Ring tone
- Cat meowing
There’s a great variety of sounds to choose from, but what the Cubicaller seems to be lacking is a “Doomsday” sound…for when your boss tells you you’ll be working late all next week.
Now, the downside to this idea is that it’s possible that the Office Clown (and there’s at least one in every office) will misuse your handy new cubebell, ringing it on the way to the bathroom, on the way to the supply closet…the possibilities are endless.
What gadget would you most like to have at work? A Supervisor Silencer? A Paperwork Evaporator? All of these are the perfect workplace gadgets!
