I recently had the opportunity to represent InventHelp and INPEX on a taping of The Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch on CNBC. It was a LONG day, but in the end, a lot of fun!
The Show featured Jim McCann of 1-800-flowers.com, Liz Lange of Liz Lange Maternity, and Mally Roncal from Mally Cosmetics. It also featured inventors like Kim & Scott Holstein, of Kim & Scott’s Gourmet Pretzel Fame.
While on the show, I had the opportunity to give some tips on exhibiting at trade shows. Some of those tips that I mentioned on the show included:
- Have a Dynamic, eye catching display –as an exhibitor, you want your booth to stand out among the people that are exhibiting next to you. Naturally, attendees are going to gravitate to an exciting, colorful display.
- Have a give-away or gimmick to get people over to your booth…let’s face it…people love free stuff. Give away pens, yo-yos, stress balls. These are inexpensive ways to get people’s attention and to draw them into your booth. Once you get them in, then you can pitch them your idea.
- Be sure to have enough business cards and brochures. Take notes on business cards when you get them from attendees, notes about what you were supposed to send them, etc so that you remember. And always follow up, don’t expect them to follow up with you.
If you have an invention and are interested in exhibiting it at INPEX-America’s Largest Invention Trade Show, give us a call at 888-54-INPEX! INPEX 2008 will be held June 11 – 14th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
