Sometimes we get so caught up in ourselves, we need to take a step back and think about others. The creators of these products, services and apps not only wanted to share their innovative ideas, but they had a little something else in mind. There are various ways to donate to charities, give back to people in need, and help save the world, and these charity apps and products that give back were designed to do just that.

Charity Miles

Charity Miles is an iPhone or Android app which has corporate sponsors donate money for your running, walking, and biking. By becoming a “sponsored athlete” you scroll through over 30 world-class charities you can work out for, choose one, and start your distance. The app tracks your distance from start to finish on your route. Bikers earn 10 cents per mile, while walkers and runners earn 25 cents per mile which gets donated to the charity you chose. You can fit this app into your daily routine of walking your dog, or cleaning the house, while you don’t even spend a dime! You give your exercise energy to earn corporate sponsorships while working out! Just post on social media to share and spread the word to more people. Some of their current sponsors are Johnson & Johnson, Timex Sports and Kenneth Cole.

A stainless steel bottle from MiiR is one of various products created by the company. Bottles, growlers, pint cups, insulated bottles and tumblers are sold to keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold. All of the hydrating products are sold in various sizes and colors. MiiR also produces and sells bicycles, bags and accessories. When purchasing a product through MiiR, you are helping provide clean water to those without it. From a purchase of a hydration product you can give one person clean water for an entire year. Throughout the journey, MiiR has also created a bicycle line which has provided bike transportation to over 3,000 people. With the passion this company holds, they continue to expand their impact in countries who need it.

TOMS is one of the most well-known companies to give back to people in need. Their motto “One for One” has been providing shoes to children since the idea creation in 2006. Ten years later, TOMS helps provide shoes, sight, water, safe birth and bullying prevention services to people in need. There innovative shoe designs started with stitching fabric and pieces of cloth together, finished with artisans who created artwork on the shoes. Today, TOMS still sells their classic style shoes, but has added more products to their line including sandals, tennis shoes, boots, sunglasses, bags, apparel, accessories, and also vegan made items.

Giving Keys

Giving Keys were created to be a different way to spread hope and inspire others. Necklaces, rings and bracelets are created to send to people that you believe need something beneficial and more in their life. The start of the Giving Keys company was founded by Caitlin Crosby when she started wearing hotel keys around her neck and engraving them. She wanted to pass along the keys and have their purpose to be renewed over and over again. She then found Rob and Cera, homeless on the streets of Hollywood one night and asked them to dinner, where she found out Cera made jewelry. The three worked together to create the Giving Keys. The couple saved enough money to finally have a home to call their own. Now, the company has employed 28 people who have struggled with homelessness, and helped 22 people move into permanent housing. While helping people find jobs, the Giving Keys products’ pure meaning is to give to someone which needs help and once they are strong enough they can pass their key along. If you receive a key, you can keep it until you feel that its use is done, then share your story of struggle and how you have overcome it with the Giving Key in hand on their website.

Not all great products and apps are high-tech gadgets and gizmos, but products created to help others when you use them. Lend a helping hand and pay it forward with these charity apps and products that give back to the world and community!
