Gesture Based Video Editing

Apple’s Siri removes the graphical user interface all together by letting you talk to your smartphone. However, what if you don’t want to talk or touch anything in order to control your smartphone or computer? Apple may have found the answer with its latest patent, which shows Apple’s intentions to allow gesture based video editing on the iPad. In and of itself, the possibility of editing a video while you’re sitting many feet away from your iPad is impressive. However, if Apple is successful in creating a useful gesture based GUI on the iPad for one application, who’s to say that a gesture based user interface can’t be implemented for the entire iPad, or for at least more applications? The current patent application mentions a master set of gestures that would allow a user to manipulate everything from media files to cursors to icons.

Using Sunlight to Power Laptop Screens

Light is all around us. Why not use the power of the sun to help charge our electronics and even use its light to add some brightness to our laptop displays? According to the USPTO, Apple was granted 20 patents that relate to solar power. One of them deals with a lid, on the back of your laptop, that acts as a mat for collecting sunlight, reflecting it to the back of your laptop screen.
