This week began the official start of summer and it’s already a scorcher. InventHelp’s Invention Girl is always seeking refuge from the heat. Unfortunately, I can’t control the temperature at work and sometimes it can get a little warm in the InventHelp offices. I want to keep cool in my office with a fan but not one that sounds like an airplane preparing for take off!

The Dyson Air Multiplier Fans are an innovative new design on the traditional standing fan. These fans produce a steady breeze without the use of visible blades (to me they sort of resemble a giant bubble blower wand or a magnifying glass. Anyone agree?) The Dyson fans come in three series: the AM01 which is a 10” round table fan (shown), the AM02 is a tower fan and the AM03 is a pedestal fan. They draw in and multiply nearly 50% more air than a desk fan. Instead of the airflow being choppy and buffeting, the fans give off a smooth and steady flow of air. No blades mean that the fans don’t produce that annoying and sometimes loud “humming” noise that could bother coworkers. These are also great for homes with small children since its common for kids to want to touch the spinning blades of a fan.

The fan speed is adjustable by a dimmer switch allowing more variety than the three settings of most fans. For added convenience, the Air Multipliers can be controlled by a remote which is also magnetized to stick to the machines.

Wondering how this works? Well this fan does have blades, you just can’t see them. They’re running inside the machine and push air through filters into the loop “amplifier”. This results in a consistent flow of air rather than the buffeting blasts of air produced by traditional fan blades. You can go Dyson’s page for a full video explanation.

The Air Multiplier is really cool and sleek looking but is a bit pricey. The fans start around $300 and go up to $450. I would love to have this in my office but I think I’ll wait until the price drops some. So, InventHelp’s Invention Girl wants to know, are you a fan of this new invention?
