Air Force One may look like any other plane in the sky, but you can be sure that this flying Taj Mahal is anything but a normal airplane. It is equipped with top secret safety measures, undoubtedly some of which are missile defense systems. The current presidential airplane is a modified Boeing 747-200 and the next generation of plane will be based on planes such as the Airbus  A380 or 747-8, according to Popular Mechanics. Although this future plane will have improved secretive safety measures, nobody will know for sure exactly what they are. However, it’s safe to say that the pending Air Force One will have the ability to track enemy radar and jam any radar controlled missiles.

The Air Force One is already the White House in plane form. The present plane has its own kitchens, operating room, pharmacy, meeting rooms, and communications equipment. The revised Air Force One, which will appear in 2017, will include all that and more, making the President’s journey even more comfortable.

Despite all the plane’s safety features, its main threat came only 9/11, when the Air Force One and White House were seen as potential targets. At one point, a passenger jet was thought to be holding terrorists when it was flying close and wasn’t communicating with air traffic control. It was later revealed that that plane was on a different radio frequency, hence the non-existent communication.
